In this course, major groups of microorganisms (algae, protozoa, fungi and bacteria) are studied.  Emphasis is placed on the physiology, metabolism, diversity and interactions between and among each group. Also, the interactions between microorganisms and humans are discussed.  This is a 4 credit course that includes a laboratory. For winter and summer sessions, enrollment requires permission of the Department of Biology, and the laboratory will be taken in the semester following the lecture.
