In
this course, major
groups of microorganisms (algae, protozoa, fungi and bacteria) are studied.
Emphasis is placed on the physiology, metabolism, diversity and interactions
between and among each group. Also, the interactions between microorganisms
and humans are discussed. This is a 4 credit course that includes
a laboratory. For winter and summer sessions, enrollment requires permission of the Department of Biology, and the laboratory will be taken in the semester following the lecture.

Laboratory
Students enrolled in BISC 300 during winter and summer sessions must complete the laboratory in the following full semester. Students will receive a grade of S (satisfactory) until the laboratory grades have been completed.
Grading
The final course grade is determined by performance in
lecture and laboratory according to the percentages below. There will
be two hourly exams given on the dates listed on the course syllabus.
The final exam will be comprehensive.
