Putting Your Classroom Online

Rationale: Technology and Internet usage are increasing at a rapid rate around the world. This increase has provided greater opportunities for communication.  Teachers now have the ability to communicate with students, parents, and other teachers via the Internet and extend educational opportunities for all.  Teachers need to be familiar with the technology tools that make this communication possible and realistic.

Course Description: This three-hour in-service course is designed to introduce educators to resources for free online tools that enable communication with students, parents, and other teachers.   These resources can be used to update parents and students and collaborate with other teachers.

Materials: This web page will serve as the framework for course information.  Teachers will use this page as a guide (in addition to instructor directions) during the class to learn to use the tools discussed.  After the class is over this page can serve as a resource for teachers.

Big Question: How can technology extend learning opportunities for students and teachers?
