We
strive to elucidate the fundamental role that plasmodesmata play
in plants by taking a multidisciplinary approach. Our long-term research
goal is to elucidate the molecular architecture, mechanism, and function
of plasmodesmata. Better understanding of these channels will provide
essential insights into how multicellular organisms have evolved. In
addition, the knowledge may allow plant biologists to manipulate important
crops to enhance their beneficial traits.
