DUSC 'Sounds Off'

The Delaware Undergraduate Student Congress serves as an entity designed to protect and safeguard the rights of its approximately 16,000 constituents. As the voice of the student body, the DUSC must stand in strong opposition to the City of Newark's “zero-tolerance” policy.

Under this directive, both the University of Delaware Police Department and the Newark Police Department have utilized “noise violations” early and often in an attempt to curb increased violence throughout the city. Although the motive is commendable, we believe such a policy does little to ultimately address the issue at hand.
