On Saturday November 16, 2002, fifteen teams, representing eight high schools, played in the 2002 Delaware Open, organized by the Charter School of Wilmington's Bill Tressler and held at Salesianum School in Wilmington, Delaware.  Teams were randomly assigned three rounds of play, followed by 3 record-pair rounds.  Based on their records, teams were then placed into two groups, with the top bracket single-elimination to determine the 2002 Delaware Open champion.

*  Teams given byes were created with a win for determining playoff positions, with their points scored average (over the other 5 games) considered their score for the bye round.

Additional tie-breakers were present but not needed.
