The Alpha Phi Foundation

The Alpha Phi Foundation was established and adopted by the fraternity in 1956. The philanthropic priority of the Alpha Phi Foundation is to create awareness that cardiac disease is the #1 killer of women and to support research and programs dealing with the disease. The Foundation also funds educational and leadership programs, offers scholarships, assists women in crisis, recognizes outstanding cardiac care and research programs, supports community organizations, and awards outstanding college professors. The Foundation is able to continue its spectacular programs through the voluntary contributions from Alpha Phi members and chapters, friends of Alpha Phi and matching grants from donors' employers. In 1946, Alpha Phi chose Cardiac Care to be our national philanthropy. In 2004, Alpha Phi launched our own red dress campaign to support cardiac care for women.

Alpha Phi is the first sorority to create our own foundation. 2006 marks our 50th anniversary.

At the University of Delaware, Alpha Phi is dedicated to support and spread awareness of our Foundation and Cardiac Care. We participate in several community-service activities to help our cause or benefit our community, such as car washes, auctions, fund-raisers, blood drives, etc. Our best-known event occurs each fall when our chapter holds an annual volleyball tournament. The entire University is invited to attend for an afternoon of fun that includes volleyball, food, prizes, and music.
