Prospective Members Must:
- Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Be a student of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources
- Be a second semester freshman, sophomore, junior or senior
Meetings:
- Prospective members must attend all membership education meetings.
- If a prospective member must miss a meeting, he or she is responsible for notifying the pledge masters and scheduling an alternative time to cover the educational information missed in the regular meeting.
Paddles:
Every prospective member must make a paddle before being initiated into the fraternity. The paddle serves as a way for a potential initiate to show other prospective members and current members his or her interests, both personal and academic. The paddles is also intended as a way for potential initiates to meet and socialize with current Alpha Zeta members. A complete paddle consists of the following:
- Alpha Zeta colors (sky blue and mode)
- Name
- Classification (AGFR, AGSO, AGJR, AGSR)
- Pledge Semester (i.e. Spring '09)
- Personalization
- Visual representation of his or her major
- Proper signatures from:
- All of the advisors
- All of pledge class
- All pledge masters
- All of the Executive Board
- 5 Alumni Members
- 70% of current Alpha Zeta membership
Interviews:
Pledges must complete interviews with all members of the Executive Board. At the conclusion of each interview, the interviewed member of the Executive Board will provide his or her signature for the prospective member's paddle.
Community Service Project:
Prospective members must plan and participate in a 2-hour service project event in which the entire fraternity will participate. The organization of the service project is to have the initiates show the current members their organization and leadership capabilities.
Dues:Pledges must pay $85 in dues by the second education meeting.
Exam:
At the final education meeting, each prospective member will be given a brief written exam. Exams will cover information from the handbook and information about other pledges. Pledges must get a 70% on the exam in order to be initiated. The exam is intended to show the pledge masters that the potential initiates have absorbed the information covered during the educational period.
Initiation:
Pledges must participate in the initiation ritual along with the rest of the chapter.
