What Is The BSU?
The Black Student Union (BSU) at the University of Delaware (UD) is one of the three major student body governments. It all began in the late 1960's due to protests by African American students who were tired of the injustices towards them. A list of demands were sent, and as a result, UD has the Center for Black Culture.
What is the CBC?
The Center for Black Culture (CBC) is a student center that houses all of the Registered Organizations that were created by African American and Hispanic American students. It is a place for fellowship, meetings, programs, and support.
How Can I Become a Member?
Membership of the Black Student Union (BSU) shall consist of all registered undergraduate and graduate Black students of the University of Delaware and those in support of the organization's purpose.
What Is The Purpose of the BSU?
The purpose is:
To represent Black Students in political matters.
To serve as the primary advocacy organization for Black students.
To act as chief liaison between Black students and the University's administration.
To take active measures in fostering an enriching environment for Black students attending a predominately White University.
To actively participate in functions on and off campus that provide enrichment and enlightenment to the plight of Black students.
What Does it Mean to be an Active Member?
Active membership consists of:
Attendance at two meetings or programs and therefore, after that involvement on a committee.

What is the Executive Board?
The executive board is a group of elected officials that act as leadership. They represent, and serve the student body.
