Welcome back to all those involved with EWB to the start of a new semester. After a successful site assessment trip, much progress has been made over the summer towards implementation during January 2008. We also hope that many new members will help us to expand the club to increase the number of active projects as well as expand campus awareness. Please come attend general meetings every Thursday at 7:00 pm in 223 Gore Hall.

Today, six EWB members took a tour of WorldWater & Solar Technologies in Pennington, NJ. Many of the technologies we saw are a perfect fit for our implementation goals in Cameroon. We hope to work closely in the future with the many helpful employees we met!

Our first Technical Advisory Board meeting was Tuesday, April 3 at 7 pm. Thank you to all of you who came!! Your advise and suggestions were extremely helpful. Philadelphia Global Water Initiative:  Sunday, March 11th 1:30 pm
Celebrate World Water Month with the Chester-Ridley-Crum Watersheds Association at Ridley Creek State Park. CRC will host two speakers from the Philadelphia Global Water Initiative, Dr. Godlove Fonjweng, recently returned from Cameroon, and Niva Kramek. PGWI is a local partnership based at the University of Pennsylvania which is bringing local industry and universities to focus on cost effective ways to address the growing global water crisis. Habitat for Humanity Build Saturday, April 21st 8:00am-3:30pm
EWB-UD is dedicated to our immediate community here in Delaware. Join us on our first annual build in Middletown, Delaware with the New Castle County Habitat for Humanity! It will be an exercise in team building and community service. Check out the New Castle County Habitat for Humanity website. Make sure you fill out the Insurance Waiver and check out the FAQ's on what to bring and wear to the site.

EWB-UD will have its first general meeting on Tuesday, February 13th at 6:30 PM in Gore 303. We will be discussing our progress on the Cameroon Project, design and fundraising, and giving a general agenda of events for the spring semester.

EWB International Conference Thursday, April 12th-Saturday April 14th
We have space available to take more people to the EWB International Conference in Amherst, MA!  This is a great opportunity to learn more about what other EWB groups are doing and learn more about sustainable engineering and appropriate technologies. EWB-USA International Conference

April 12 – 14, 2007, University of Massachusetts-Amherst, MA

The Conference theme, “Bringing Resources Together to Build Vital Communities,” will focus on many new concepts, technologies and long range planning processes for strengthening worldwide collaborative efforts.
