National Eating Disorders Awareness Week was Feb. 25-29
The first annual Registered Dietitian Day was March 10!
Wellness Fair - A fair
that promoted the University's wellness center, Wellspring.
Information was provided about overall health of the mind, body
and soul, as well as activities such as tie-dying, jazzercise, and
belly dancing. The club had a table to provide nutritional
information to all attendees.
Apple Picking - The
club took a trip to Milburn Orchards in Elkton, MD on the first day of
fall to pick big, juicy, fresh apples. We also shopped in the
market for farm-grown fruits and veggies, fresh cider, and
hot-out-of-the-oven apple cider donuts!
Homecoming - We showed off our artistic abilities while supporting UD
by making a banner for homecoming that was hung in Trabant University
Center.
Kaplan Guest Speaker - Julie Wasson from Kaplan came to speak about the GRE's, grad school and applying for financial aid.
American Heart Association Guest Speaker - Jonathan Kirch came to speak
about what he does for the AHA and what we can do to help.
Delaware Dietetic Association - Some members attended one of the
DDA's board meetings to see how it was run and give the input of the
students. Also, the DDA looked to us to design a new logo for
them.
Empowerment for Young Adults with Special Needs - The club held
three workshops at Clayton Hall to teach groups of teens and young
adults with special needs how to prepare a healthy snack that is simple
enough for them to prepare themselves.
Fitness classes - Club members attend free fitness kickboxing and yoga classes to de-stress while breaking a sweat!
