Cup Captures Consecutive Fat Kid All-Events Titles

ALLENTOWN, Pa. (Oct. 13) - One by one, the most corpulent of college bowlers waddled aside.

It was Sunday at the Pennsylvania Classic, and "Cup" was in the lead.

"After the first game on Sunday, I knew it was over for me," a two-time Fat Kid All-Events champion, who asked that his name not be disclosed, said.

He wasn't alone.

University of Delaware bowler Scott Davis won his second Fat Kid All-Events title of the season in as many tournaments. He struggled early with a mediocre first block on Saturday, but persevered through the next two blocks. He watched his rivals crash and burn and eat mayonnaise-laden cheeseburgers from the snack bar in desperate attempts to catch him.

The result was another march into history, with Davis becoming only the 2nd player to win back-to-back titles.

"This is another 'cup-sized' victory, and I'd like to thank all of the people who made this possible including Minnesota Fats who paved the way with his billiards skills and enormous waistline," Davis said.

Davis had the look of a champion all day despite claiming, "It feels like I am walking on nails with every step. Fat people shouldn't walk this much in one day."

As tradition mandates, Davis retired to Olive Garden with his team for another victory feast.

"If my pants fit at the next tournament, I might even compete with the skinny kids. This tournament I had the bad feel with our yellow shirt/black pants combo."

All of the emotion in the competition came from everyone else. Even the best of the biggest realized that Davis wins most of his tournaments by letting everyone else fall apart or eat themselves into sickness.

"I tried," some other fat kid said. "We all tried." Against Davis, with legendary College of New Jersey competitor Nad out of the picture this season, that is simply not enough.
