2008 Executive Board



Coordinator: Chris Gale

Meet Chris Gale. He's a Junior Mechanical Engineer. He enjoys building and hiking. He's been a UDECU member since the spring of 2006. He's also a Philmont Ranger, an active Habitat for Humanity member, and a Blue Hen Ambassador. He's the kind of guy that's always willing to lend a hand. He's resourceful, knowledgeable, and most importantly, a family man. Underneath all of these fancy titles, Chris is just your average guy from Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.


Co-Coordinator: Charles Mitchell

Charles is a Junior Civil Engineering major from Salisbury, Maryland. Charles has been a member of UDECU since Fall of 2005 and is a Delaware and Nationally registered EMT-B. He is an Eagle Scout and during the summer Charles works at Henson Scout Reservation as the Health and Safety Director and Camp Services Director. Charles is a member of UD's American Society of Civil Engineers and he is an Engineering Ambassador. Charles enjoys spending time outdoors especially Rock Climbing and Scuba Diving. After Graduation Charles would like to earn a Master's Degree and work as a Professional Engineer.


Director of Training: Andrew Dubina

Andrew is a junior Environmental Engineering major from Millersville, Maryland. Andrew has lived in several places around North America, including Chicago, Indianapolis, and Toronto, Canada. He joined UDECU in the fall of his freshman year and is currently a Delaware and Nationally-registered EMT. Although Andrew is an engineering major, he hopes to attend medical school after graduation and continue in the field of Emergency Medicine. Andrew is also a new member of the Blue Hen Ambassador program on campus. An avid sports fan, his friends say that Andrew is an aspiring sports commentator. In his free time, Andrew enjoys watching sports of all kinds, the outdoors, and hanging out with friends.


Director of Equipment: Jeff Sands

Jeff is a Sophomore dual History and Anthropology major from Marblehead, Massachusetts. He is a Nationally Registered and Delaware EMT-B and has been a member of UDECU since the fall of his Freshman year 2006. Last summer he worked on a replica War of 1812 schooner out of Salem, MA named the Fame. Jeff follows the Red Sox, the Patriots, and enjoys Scuba diving, and hiking. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a career in archaeology while continuing to work in EMS and someday get his paramedic certification.

 

 


Treasurer: Justin Huovinen

Justin is a Junior from Bel Air, Maryland majoring in Accounting with a minor in History. He is a Delaware and Nationally Registered EMT-B and has been a member of UDECU since his sophomore year. Back home, Justin volunteers at the local hospital in the Emergency Department. In his free time, Justin enjoys going on ski trips, watching football, listening to music, reading, and hanging out with friends and family. After graduating from UD, Justin plans to obtain his CPA certification and work at an accounting firm in Maryland.

 

 


Director of Membership: Kristen Fantel

Kristen is a junior nursing major from Danbury, CT. She became a Delaware and Nationally Registered EMT-B after joining UDECU in the fall of her sophomore year. Kristen is also a member of the Student Nurses Organization at UD. During summer and winter breaks, Kristen is at home working in the Emergency Room at Danbury Hospital. After graduation, Kristen plans on continuing to work in an emergency room as an RN before going back to school to become a nurse practitioner.

 

 


Recorder: Mary Fannon

Mary is a sophomore Biological Sciences major from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. She has been a member UDECU since the Fall of 2007 and plans on completing her EMT-B training during the Summer of 2008. Mary is also involved in the UD chapter of the American Red Cross Club. She can be seen on campus working at the University of Delaware Library in the Reserve Room. During the summer however, she works at her local YMCA as a camp director. In her leisure, Mary participates in sports and spends time with family and friends. She loves Philadelphia sports, children, dogs, and snow. After graduation, Mary hopes to get an accelerated degree in Nursing and eventually work in pediatrics.

 


Secretary: Meghan Connor

Meghan is a sophomore nursing major from Gaithersburg MD. She has been a member of UDECU since the fall of her freshman year and is now a Delaware and Nationally Registered EMT-B. Meghan is also involved with the Student Nurses Organization and the Blue Hen Ambassadors. She is an avid Redskins fan and attends all of the home games. Meghan was a swimmer in high school and has been a swim coach since she was 13 years old. However, this summer hopes to work at a hospital to get more clincal nursing experience. Joining UDECU has made Meghan consider going into ER nursing and after graduation she hopes to work as a nurse for a while before going back to school to get her Masters or PhD.

 


Faculty Advisor: Jack Lynn

Jack is a Investigator with the University of Delaware Police Department and has been UDECU's advisor since its formation in 1976. Jack is the man behind the scenes, but has been very instrumental in UDECU's success over the past 32 years. Jack has been named "advisor of the year" by the University several times.
