Blue Hen News
The
2008/2009 season was one with many accomplishments. The team
started off the season finishing 2nd at the Lafayette Invitational and
at the U.M.B.C. Retriever Duals. Then the team captured the North-East
Conference Dual Title. At the North-East Conferences we had eight
national qualifiers and finished 3rd overall as a team. The
N.C.W.A. Nationals were held in Hampton, VA and we finished the season
16th for team standings. We also had two members of
the team Michael Bard and Michael Wright become 2X All-Americans
finishing 5th and 7th respectively. We are continueing to build our program and are looking forward to another successful year.
Veteran Day Duals (Albany Armory)
On
November 13, the Blue Hens made the trip up to Albany to face off
against three opponents in one match. We challenged Hudson
Valley, Hofstra, and Rhode Island, of the 12 matches we had we won
eight of them all with PINS.
Titan Open (11/14, Albany, NY)
At
the Titan Open we did well as a team and had two guys finish second and
two other finish third in the tournament. At the event we saw
some of toughest competition including Navy Prep and Army
Prep.
We
went through a grueling day of matches and started the season off on
the right note. A majority of th team experienced for the first
time what college wrestling is about and want to keep working hard to
get ready for our next event against West Chester.
West Chester Vs. Delaware
On
November 21 the Blue Hens went to West Chester. In the dual meet
the team was lead by Ben Grant, Isaiah Anton, and Isaac Bennett all
gaining wins for the team. Overall the team lost to West Chester
but there were close matches. The Blue Hens saw some of their
toughest competition in the conference and now know where they have to
be to raise their level of competition. We are looking forward to
seeing West Chester again in the Mid-East Conferences to compete for
the conference title.
