Professional Development of In-Service Teachers

  • My dissertation research entitled "Understanding Teacher Change: A Study of Professional Development in Technology Integration" investigated the influence of two professional development models designed by the Institute for Learning Technologies on the beliefs, knowledge, and practice of teachers with respect to technology. It also provided guidelines for the design of effective professional development within the constraints of urban public schools.

Science education and technology

  • Through my studies at Teachers College I have developed a web based science learning environment, named Alpine that aimed at helping primary and middle school students learn about weather concepts. Therefore, my research in this area focuses on the development of collaborative inquiry-based learning environments that resemble the real-world practice of science.

Distance Learning

  • For several years I worked with the Distance Learning Project at Teachers College. My work in this area focus on the instructional design, development, and delivery of on-line courses and the creation of a cooperative climate in the on-line environment.
