RESEARCH
Overview

Our major research focuses are on elucidating the role of protein phosphorylation in plasmodesmal function and identifying the molecular components that constitute the channels and macromolecular trafficking pathways. Specifically, we are using PAPK1 as a molecular tool to dissect the mechanism underlying protein targeting to plasmodesmata. In order to isolate plasmodesmal components, we are taking biochemical and proteomics approaches to enrich and identify the plasmodesmal proteins. We are also interested in characterizing other Arabidopsis Casein Kinase I (CKI) members in the context of their evolutionarily conserved and unique biological functions.

Research projects in the Lee Laboratory are supported by the Molecular and Cellular Biology Program of the National Science Foundation and the COBRE program within the National Center for Research Resources (NCRR) of the National Institutes of Health. We are also grateful to the University of Delaware Research Foundation and the DuPont Young Professor Program for their supports.
