Welcome to a fun filled school year
aboard Space Station ALPHA! That's right! Your child will be
spending the year "aboard" a simulated space station. Our classroom
has been transformed and the students receive their boarding passes on
the first day of school. They will receive their cadet badges and
begin to familiarize themselves with the terminology used on board a space
station. Such items as the Head (bathroom), the Galley (sink and
cooking area), Mission Control (seating area) and Briefing Area (group
carpet area) will become familiar terms as we work throughout the year.
If time is spent in the Brig, that means time-out area. ( We never anticipate
the need for this area but it is available for anyone who feels the need
to settle and refocus.)
We will also establish a flag and
patch for our station and mission this year. The station is a small
society (Mini society) and we will be working together as any town would
do. We will choose a name for our wing of the space station and the
children will be designing a flag to display for the year. We will
also be studying the democratic workings of a station and creating jobs
for every cadet. Businesses will develop as the year passes and we
will hold 1-2 sales during the year. The money earned at these sale
days will pay for our graduation shirts and ceremony in June.
So sit back, fasten your seat belts
and prepare to launch into a year that promises to be Out- Of- This World!
