If you've never taken part in a CW net, it sounds at first like messages are zipping back and forth at a furious pace. But no one is in a hurry. Communication on a net is simply trimmed down to its bare minimum, so in that sense net participation is less taxing than a qso.
It's worth listening in a few times till you feel halfway comfortable with the exchanges. Don't worry, though, about jumping in at that point even if you don't feel 100% on top of it. Probably no one feels totally comfortable till having taken part in a net regularly for some time!
Click here to read a typical exchange on the Pennsylvania Traffic Training Net. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to make it clearer or easier to follow.
And last but certainly not least, here is a link to the PTTN. If you're in eastern Pennsylvania, give it a try. If not, there's sure to be a net near you.
