To access strauss from a PC running Windows, you should download the SSH Secure Shell program from the website http://udeploy.udel.edu.
After you download the program and install it, click "quick connect", and use "strauss.udel.edu" for the hostname, and use your UDelNet ID for the "username".
You might be able to just type "strauss" when you are on campus, but off campus you'll need to use the full hostname: strauss.udel.edu.
Later on, you can experiment with the various menus, and set up a shortcut to access strauss directly, without having to go through the Quick Connect button. I'll let you figure that out on your own.
There is a little "file folder" icon in the menu bar: clicking on it will bring up a file transfer window. You should use this window to transfer files, NOT an ftp program. FTP programs may send your password over the network unencrypted, and allow hackers to steal your password. The SSH Secure Shell program protects your password from hackers and keeps you safe.
Remember that if you are uploading to WebCT using a web broswer running on your own computer (here, it doesn't matter if its Windows, Mac, Linux, or whatever), it is a two step process: (1) transfer the file from strauss to your own computer's hard drive (use the file transfer built into SSH Secure Shell) (2) then upload from your computer's hard drive into WebCT.
