Course Title: Bioinformatics ANSC 667 Instructor: Carl J. Schmidt |

Objective: The objective of this course is to introduce students to currently available programs for computational analysis of nucleic acid
and protein sequences. Students will use programs to identify genes, compare nucleic acid and protein sequences, predict secondary and tertiary structure, and study gene evolution. This course will emphasize
computer usage but no programming experience is required. A course in biochemistry or molecular genetics is strongly recommended. Grading will be based upon assignments and a term project focusing upon analysis of
a gene family. |
